Congratulations to our newly elected President-Elect, Albert Icksang Ko, MD, FASTMH, and three new members of the Board of Directors: Rebecca Christofferson, MApSt, PhD; Yazoume Ye, PhD; and Muhammad Asaduzzaman, MBBS, MPH, MPhil. They will be seated at the Annual Meeting in Toronto in November.
ASTMH Statement:
The Society has expressed deep concern over the recent layoffs and high-profile resignations among senior leadership at the CDC, as well as the House of Representatives appropriations proposal for a 20% funding cut to the CDC. “The CDC has long been a cornerstone of public health in the United States and a global leader in disease prevention, outbreak response, and health research. Leadership instability and the departure of experienced public health professionals threaten to undermine the agency’s mission at a time when strong, evidence-based guidance is needed more than ever.”
This year’s Update Course in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health is offering an in-person option at the ASTMH Annual Meeting in Toronto. The course will take place during two days, September 27 and November 9. Both will be livestreamed, and the November 9 session will be offered in person at the meeting to those registered for the course.
Through October, donations made to Parasites Without Borders (PWB) will be matched by the organization and donated to American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (ASTMH) with a minimum pledged donation of $10,000 US and a total gift up to $20,000.
