A SBMT acaba de criar a MedTrop-L. Esta lista de discussão pretende aproximar a comunidade de médicos, sanitaristas e cientistas interessados no tema da Medicina Tropical.
Todos os associados da SBMT já foram registrados na lista. As mensagens serão enviadas e recebidas por email regular, que terá um moderador para prevenir excessos (Jeff Shaw, Carlos Costa).
Como pretende se transformar em um fórum internacional sobre a saúde nos Trópicos, será bilíngüe, em inglês e português. Entretanto, estimulamos a comunicação em inglês, que é a língua mais internacional. Para tal, não será necessário ter o domínio completo da língua, mas apenas a capacidade de expressão correta de idéias.
O conteúdo referente a Medicina Tropical é aberto a qualquer tema das doenças tropicais. Será uma excelente oportunidade para discutir casos clínicos, solicitar sugestões sobre pesquisas, projetos ou políticas públicas, e aprofundamento de temas complexos ou polêmicos.
A SBMT tem certeza que esta lista será um marco na história da Medicina Tropical.

Dear member of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine,
The SBMT has just created MedTrop-L. The list´s aim is to serve as a link between doctors, health workers, policy makers, scientists and any others who are interested in Tropical Medicine.
You will already have received a welcome message with your password which enables you to change certain individual list server parameters such as receiving messages as they are posted or once a week. Messages are sent and received byregular email and are moderated to prevent excesses (Jeff Shaw, Carlos Costa).
It is hoped that the list, which is presently a national one, will become an international forum for the discussion of health in the tropics and although communications in both English and Portuguese are accepted English is preferred since it is more international. The list is an informal venue so the English doesn’t have to be perfect just comprehensible!
Messages on anything related to tropical diseases are acceptable. We hope that the list will promote open discussions on subjects ranging for observations and difficulties with clinical cases to complex or controversial issues of health policies.
The SBMT is certain that this list will be a milestone in the history of Tropical Medicine.
